Proxima, a new $80 million children’s health and education centre of excellence

NEWS - 15 May 2020

Queensland developer Evans Long has secured a site at Lumina for its planned $80 million children’s health and education centre of excellence, Proxima.

Proxima will be located within Lumina, the Queensland Government’s 9.5 hectare development dedicated to growing the life sciences, health and technology-related businesses within the Gold Coast Health and Knowledge Precinct (the Precinct).

Evans Long is the second organisation and first private commercial development to join Lumina since the department received hand over of the land previously used as the Commonwealth Games Athletes’ Village just over one year ago.

Evans Long has an incredible vision for this building, which will complement the entire Precinct offering and create up to 900 highly skilled jobs when fully occupied.

The vision for Proxima is to create a children’s health and education-focused centre, complemented by allied health services, a dual-level 200-place full-day childcare centre that will cater for up to 400 children including an integrated special needs facility, five levels of commercial space and basement parking.

Lumina is dedicated to growing the life sciences, health and technology-related businesses of today and tomorrow and is designed to cater for businesses at all stages of development, from start-ups requiring single desks through to established businesses seeking multiple floors or a bespoke building.
