Vision and Purpose

Economic Development Queensland’s (EDQ) 2025–2029 Strategic Plan sets out a vision to deliver housing supply, economic prosperity and liveable places over the next four years, underpinned by a strong focus on service excellence.

The vision is “A Queensland planned and built for growth.” The plan positions the organisation as a trusted, long-term partner that is accessible to industry, government and the community, while delivering on Queensland Government priorities—including the commitment to deliver one million homes by 2044.

A major priority is accelerating housing supply at scale and pace across the State. This involves refocusing the PDA program to expedite land supply, working with development partners to activate a pipeline of development-ready land, and fast-tracking development approvals to bring projects forward sooner.

Another focus is championing and securing investment for industry-led economic growth, particularly in commercial and industrial development. Support will extend to both established and emerging businesses, with increased investment in regional industrial opportunities that strengthen local economies and create jobs closer to home.

To deliver on these priorities, the organisation is enhancing its service delivery and customer focus. This means providing greater development certainty through operational efficiency, transparent processes and a coordinated approach—acting as a one-stop partner within government to achieve great outcomes together.
