Celebrating the Trailblazers of HealthTech: LuminaX 2025 Winners Announced!

At the heart of Australia’s fastest-growing innovation precinct, Lumina is a 9.5-hectare purpose-built community designed to support life sciences, health, technology and general businesses. Anchored within the Gold Coast Health & Knowledge Precinct, Lumina is home to the LuminaX HealthTech Accelerator—Australia’s leading program for early-stage healthtech startups. Delivered by LX Health and backed by Economic Development Queensland (EDQ), Invest Gold Coast and QIC; LuminaX provides a 14-week journey of mentorship, clinical access, and investor connections to help founders validate and commercialise their solutions.

The program has grown immensely since launching in 2021. Over the five years, 52 startups have completed LuminaX, raising over $33 million in funding, supported by more than 1600 hours of mentorship, 60 workshops, 50+ mentors, and 15+ venture capital firms engaged across the life of the program.

This year’s cohort showcased:

• Ascenda Health – A white-label AI assistant that safely scales access to mental health support, empowering providers to extend care without compromising quality or safety.
• BioProSep– Developing next-generation bioseparation materials that make biologic purification faster, reduce waste, and cut costs —turning lost doses into lifesaving treatments.
• Celium Technologies – A platform that optimises hospital bed allocation and reduces ambulance ramping, improving patient flow and emergency care capacity.
• GenAqua – A disinfection device designed to reduce hospital-acquired infections caused by contaminated potable water in healthcare facilities.
• Heali – A digital platform for clinicians to create, share, and monitor treatment plans in real-time—improving patient adherence and simplifying care delivery.
• GutGutGoose– Science-backed personalised probiotics, using advanced microbiome testing to craft gut health formulas tailored to the individual.
• Zendu– AI-powered personal clinician for physical rehabilitation—delivering clinician-quality programs instantly with no referrals, no waitlists, just results.
• Sal-Check– A non-invasive, saliva-based diagnostic test for early detection and monitoring of liver fibrosis and cirrhosis—offering accessible and patient-friendly screening.

Special Recognition Awards:

• LX Startup of the Year: GenAqua, led by Scott Goulter, for exceptional growth and engagement.
• People’s Choice Award: SAL-Check, led by Chamindie Punyadeera, for winning hearts and votes.
• The Parny Prize: Celium Technologies, led by Jack Rankin, for demonstrating grit and promise throughout the program.

This year’s Demo Night was a sold-out celebration, drawing over 300 investors, clinicians, and ecosystem leaders from across Australia. With keynote speaker Andrew Barnes (Co-founder of Go1) unveiling his latest venture—“Stripe for Health”—the evening was a powerful reminder of the momentum driving health innovation forward.
